Only your imagination limits the fun that a monster truck, or off-road buggy, event center gives you. Design the project to include every truck, and buggy related activity you can think of. Then build that center with your RC construction toys.
What kind of trucking action do you enjoy most for your remote control playtime? Let me tickle that gray matter to get some project ideas started.
Design some ramps for jumping.
Make a couple of dirt hills with an excavator. Build them high enough to send your trucks flying through the air as they launch from one pile to the other. Place them far enough apart from each other that your trucks just make it from one to the other without crashing.
Shape your piles into launching ramps with a front loader.
Use a crane to position a line of models between the ramps.
Haul those models to the project site on semi truck flatbeds.
Build jumping mounds around an oval
Cut an oval course with front loaders. Position some mounds on the track at various spots for your trucks and buggies to jump.
Use the excavator to make these mounds, and make them just high enough to send the racing trucks into the air. Just don’t build them so high that the trucks can’t land on their wheels.
Make this oval obstacle course wide enough for racing two monster trucks side-by-side for added competition.
Include a vehicle demolishing line
Level out a short, straight strip track with a loader.
Carry a semi truck flatbed load of cars and trucks, even motor homes, to the center of this track.
Right in the middle of this strip power up the crane to position a line of model vehicles for demolition exhibitions. (You might use cast metal models for this. Metal models last longer. But plastic models crunch better, and that’s more dramatic.)
After the trucks finish the crushing event haul the wreckage back to the flatbed with loaders.
Install hills for climbing
Make some climbing hills with an excavator. Pile these hills high enough to challenge every truck, or buggy, you have.
Shape your climbing hills with the loader, and make them steep for extreme climbing difficulty.
Don’t forget rock climbing
Power up the excavator, and make a rock obstacle mountain.
Place rocks in jumbled positions with cranes. Make sure the rocks stick out from the pile in ugly ways so your trucks and buggies will struggle to climb over them.
Shape a racing oval, and a drag strip
Outline your tracks for racing events.
You want both an oval, and a straight strip for drag racing. Design the oval track wide enough to run three or four vehicles side-by-side. Construct the drag strip no wider than two model sizes.
Dig the oval and drag tracks with the front loaders, and level the track foundations. For best racing conditions install concrete surfaces for these tracks. Deliver the surface material with cement mixer trucks.
Include a bog in your project planning
Dig a pit with an excavator. Don’t go so deep that your buggies and monster trucks disappear in the hole.
Haul in mud with the dump trucks, and turn your pit into a mud bog.
With these ideas you can build a buggy and monster truck event center that gives you, and your friends, hours of radio control fun.
What other event planning for your project can you erect with RC construction toys?
